What is Mindful Munchies?
The Mindful Munchies school lunch program is provided to children of school age from September through to June. Nutritious lunches are provided comprising of a protein sandwich, fresh fruit and yogurt/cheese. The Lethbridge Food Bank started the Mindful Munchies Program in 2017 as a way for students and youth to have access to a healthy and balanced meal to enhance their learning and education. When children have full stomachs, they have more energy and focus, which can lead to improved academic performance. The Mindful Munchies school lunch program is an essential component in children’s education and wellbeing in Lethbridge. If all children have access to a healthy meal, this promotes equity and inclusivity within the school community.
Since its creation in 2017, Mindful Munchies has grown exponentially. We started with a delivery number of approximately 600 lunches per week and currently provide 2800 lunches per week. During the 2022/23 school year over 94,000 lunches were provided to schools in Lethbridge!
Any child that needs access to the lunch program, please contact the school they attend. Schools under the Lethbridge School Division and the Holy Spirit Division currently have many schools participate in the program. We can arrange new schools to be added to the program, please contact email@example.com
